Half an our away from Podere il Pino; a town known as the "cradle of Renaissance". Florence is famous for the literary,artistic and scientific development it had, during the Fourteenth-Fifteenth century. There are many of the most important masterpieces of the italian culture: the Duomo (Cathedral) of Santa Maria del Fiore, with its bell-tower "campanile di Giotto"; the San Giovanni Baptistery and the golden Porta del Paradiso; the Uffizi; Pontevecchio with its characteristic goldsmith's shops; Forte Belvedere; Piazzale Michelangelo, the romanesque Basilica of San Miniato al Monte and the hill of Fiesole, which offers one of the most suggestive views of the valley of Arno. The town is full of streets where you can do some shopping,it has a large choice of restaurants and nightclubs. In fact it is the favourite destination of many students from abroad.
