Farmhouse Podere il Pino surroundings: Arezzo
The municipality of Arezzo is situated at the confluence of three of the four valleys that comprise its province. The Casentino begins directly north of the city, the valley where the first stretch of the Arno runs; to the north-west, the Arno also flows through Valdarno Superiore in the stretch between Arezzo and Florence; Val di Chiana to the south is a plain reclaimed from marshland, where the most important waterway is the main Chiana canal. By way of the Torrino pass and the Cerfone valley access is gained to the fourth valley, Valtiberina, where the first stretch of the Tiber runs. The municipal territory is extensive and varied, from the plain that opens onto Val di Chiana and the Arno, to the hills south of the city and mountainous areas, especially to the east. It shares boundaries with a great number of other municipalities: on the Val di Chiana side, Civitella in Val di Chiana and Castiglion Fiorentino; on the Valdarno Superiore side, Laterina and Castiglion Fibocchi; on the Casentino side, Capolona; and on the Val Tiberina side, Anghiari, Monterchi and the Province of Perugia, in Umbria.
